International Day of Love

So how did your valentine day go guys???

All u singles out there.. did you flirt the day away??
anyone's got any special moments to share??

Let me tell you mine...

Day started out pretty normal.. with the boy driving my uncle to bus-stop early in the morning... i opted to stay back at home for two reasons..
1) maid would come by 7:30..
2) had big plans of baking a home-made-valentine-chocolate-cake for the boy..

I just had half n hour to make the cake.. cos the boy would be back by then.. wanted the cake to be a surprise for the boy.. But for my great horror.. turned out only one glass of milk was left and the recipe needed minimum 2 glasses.. i decided on trying it out with just 1 glass.. with the cake batter ready .. all that was needed was to place it in the cooker. and with this done. i just had to wait for the boy to be surprised ....

Boy came back in no time with a bunch of roses n carnations(oh yeah i love carnations :) .. especially red ones)... cake was still in the cooker ..n by then the whole house had started to smell of the baking cake.. my boy has got one hell of a inquisitive nose.. n i din take him long to land in the kitchen with an raised eyebrow..as always any plans to surprise him in food section gets busted easily.. so i was caught red handed with the baking cake..

when the cake was ready to removed out from the cooker.. i realized that the dish in which i poured the batter inside the cooker had gotten tilted and water in the cooker had flowed into the vessel.. so cake wasn as i expected it.. but the boy munched on it anyways...

Boy took me valentine shopping in the noon and i ended up picking two jeans and one capris ( aha sale season... i just love this month for too many reasons ;).. )..
One of boy's friends got this complimentary passes for place called i-bar for the evening... so we ended up over there .. nothing like a good music and a round of drinks n dinner with friends on a valentine evening. It was perfect double date.. clicked too many crazy snaps..

The most embarrassing part of the evening was...me n boy's friend sheetal, wanted to teach these guys how to give a salsa dip pose for the photo.. she tried to dip me and was unable to take my weight **FYI- I weigh only 50 kgs.. please dont think otherwise**.. which resulted in a near fall and boy saving us both on time from the big crash... all the while i was laughing my heart out.(can say results of a two very strong cocktails... ) Reached home by 12 and it felt like the entire day had just passed on in a fast-forward flow..

Anyways tell me guys how did your international-day-of-love go????

PS: Woke up at 7:30 with a heavy heart.. n now at office.. as usual with a fresh set of Monday blues....
I HATE MONDAY MORNINGS :( ....

Kitchen Chronicles

It is a very normal day in the kitchen... girl is busy getting the oil ready in the kadia(utensil) for mustard seeds n curry leaves seasoning and the boy is lost in cutting onions... oil is hot n ready for the mustard seeds .. the girl drops the mustard seeds into the oil and immediately jumps some 3 feet away .. yup u guessed it right... she's freaking scared of the oil droplets that jump out when mustard seeds crackle... boy looks at this and starts nodding his head..then the gal gets ready to drop curry leaves into the oil from 1 meter away... boy stops cutting the onions ...

boy(like a modern day hero): give i will drop the curry leaves
girl(with a relieved look): take it.

boy stands in front of the stove holds up his palm inward, right above the utensil and looks at me

boy: see nothing happens.. you simply get scared.
girl: yeah yeah.. you first drop the curry leaves

boy drops the curry leaves n holds his palm again on top ... gives me a sweet smile.. immediately smile turns into funny frown.

ahha my love u got it right this time... sometimes the oil crackles do hurt :P ....

PS: No person was seriously injured / bandaged / hospitalized during the above event.

Month that reads love....

Caution: Mushy post ahead.. not advisable for boys!!!!

So begins the week of love.. whats on your mind this time???

I somewhere once read... there doesn have to a special month or week or a day for love.. yup thats very true.. but i wonder how many of us committed or rather married people among us do something extraordinary for our loved ones daily, unless it happens to be their birthdays or its an anniversary..

and with us married people out there.. cupid seems to have flown away..

Last year me and the boy were both looking forward for Feb 14th... love was totally in the air for us both...spent the entire day together.. there would be lot of surprises for the day.. we crossed our usual get-back-home-time deadlines put at us from both the houses and stayed out till almost 12.. but this year it looked like the enthusiasm had reduced..

So i have decided to hunt the cupid and get his ass arrows down on us.... well me n boy both have started spreading love with help of farming in FB.. boy has started drawing love signs for me and i have been drawing hearts in my farm..
lols i know that's very wacky of us.. but at times it feels good to be called a fool in love...

I have also decided to leave lovey-dovey messages for the boy this entire week... so here's one ...

There is something about u that makes me and my world go round n round n round...
makes me wake up each morning with a smile.....
and makes my each day amazing!!!

A tough paid ride!

I live in a city which approximately has around 80000 auto rickshaws (For people who are not familiar with this word - autos work just the way a taxi works ;) ). Number of autos outruns the city buses here. With that huge number at hand, getting an auto ride when you need is still a problem.
No.. its not that these many autos aren’t sufficient for the city crowd, its simply bcos the rick(auto) drivers won be interested in your destination. Asking these guys for a ride is almost like trying to pull a buffalo into a pond.

Yes most of you out there guessed it right. I live in a city called Bangalore. Here it’s easier to find a eunuch on a road then get an auto.

One golden rule about Bangalore autos is they wont agree to come if the destination is too far nor do they agree for close by places. Decision to take us or not would be entirely dependent on their mood at that point of time.

There are episodes when people here ask the rick drivers where they wanna go, instead of the other way around. This usually happens after a very heated and defeated argument with these drivers.

For my total rotten luck, i sometimes have to depend on these ricks when getting back home from my work. And out of 8 auto guys i ask, may be (if luck decides to run the other way around) one might agree. Last night i had to depend on these freaking ricks to get back home. I asked around 10 ricks and none of them agreed. They all have this sensational your-destination-is-so-lame expression when they hear unwanted / not-so-interested (according to them) destinations. All of them were acting as though i was asking them to take me to some red light area.

With each auto counts increasing, my temper too started its climb. Finally, it mite have been the 10th guy i asked that night. He said 50 bucks. Meter charge for my place will fall just 20 bucks. Normally i would have argued with them and gotten it down to 35 bucks (even though there is no need to pay extra for such a short distance), but i was super pissed with these guys and dint want to pay them anything extra. So the moment he mentioned 50 bucks, i gave him a your-so-lame look and walked off!!

I tried for another three ricks and after that again one more said 60 bucks. i thought thats it.... i am done with these people.. i cant ask them anymore.. i just walked off and immediately called the boy who was busy at work .. told the boy i was not even gonna look at another rick and that i would prefer walking then taking these damn ricks. The boy told me to wait there for him, but i just couldn stand there anymore looking like a fool.. So i started to walk (needed the walk badly to cool my fuming temper). i decided to meet boy at one place which was about one km from where i was. All the way i walked i silently kept cursing in my mind that one more rick guy talks to me, am gonna burn his rick down. I felt like pelting stones on all the ricks in the city. Gosh those guys can really get your blood pressure running if you have a bad office day.

So i have taken a oath that i won be stepping inside these damn ricks at least for a month or until i forget last night’s incident or else if it is the last option and i desperately them. HMPH!!!!!!

When it comes to all about hor(r)o(r)scopes!!!!

So how many of u believe in astrology and horoscopes, read the daily and weekly predictions... depend on it for every single step in your life... follow the lucky colors and stone.....

Do you believe that compatibility between a girl and boy depends on their horoscopes???

Well to tell you the truth... i do believe sometimes..

Let me tell you a story...

Last year when i had just got engaged to the boy.. i was sorta curious to know how well we match ( Our parents had matched the horoscopes before itself n i did it personally just for fun).. i found that we match quite well according to the sun signs..

Another colleague of mine had gotten engaged around the same time and he was also getting married just a few days before me.. this guy believes in horoscopes completely.. and he forwarded me a link to check out my compatibility with the boy according to the moon signs... the website predicted we do match.. but not too well.. we can easily get irritated with each other and may not be very happy.. well i was not sure what to make of it...

Later that day my colleague told me.. he believes in this website a lot... website predicted he and his fiance were very well compatible and would bring each other happiness.. and he would not have gone further with the proposal if the horoscopes said otherwise.. i forgot about this entire compatibility predictions within few days..

Last month i heard that this colleague of mine had met with an accident and fractured his hand badly recently...and just after two months of his wedding had been absconding too from home for a week( in my opinion he was just 24 years old .. so too young to be getting married and taking the responsibility of the family).. last week when i was in my old office... the housekeeping female told me again that his facture was sorta a very serious and he has been advised to take rest for a few months... n then when she told me he was so happy before the wedding but now he was facing so many problems... thats when it struck me how wrong the horoscopes predictions can actually be...

According to that prediction.. i guess me and the boy by now should have started hitting each other and run away in opposite directions... but all i run away from is when he comes behind with a glass of milk in his hand... arrghhh....

Once an astrologer told me.. if you dont match the horoscopes and get married without any prediction... you will be happy... bcos you really don know what it might have predicted.
but if you see and come to know that it really does not match .. inspite of this you go ahead and get married.. then you will end up blaming all the silly problems in your life over that marriage... so either dont see or you see and follow it accordingly...

i say what he said was correct :) ... you match the compatibility yourself without any external aid called horoscopes... just go with what your instincts predict rather then horoscopes...

Domestic Battle!

What do most married couples fight about???

Reason 1 - Food & Cooking!

Not an issue with us. The boy manages the non-veg section and i look after the veg section and sausages section. We are very well co-ordinated in the food department. So no fights in the kitchen.

Reason 2 - TV shows!

The boy prefers only the movies and sports channels. And i am not a big fan of these sport channels. But being a good wife (coyly smiling), i let boy watch his football matches and F1. And he too lets me watch my shows (at least on their re-runs). So no fight over remote too here.

Reason 3 - Cleaning around the house

Boy is very helpful in this section. He shows his typical Virgo cleanliness streak here. So no fights over dirty dishes and brooms.

Reason 4 - Annoying habits

Either there are no such "tick off" habits in the boy or i have gotten used to all his pesky habits. And i dont hear the boy complaining much about mine too. So no fights over snoring or toilet seat covers.

So you think we dont fight at all??

Highly mistaken.... Wondering the reason for fight???

Reason is a big brown towel !!!

My mom had packed this towel along with all my other clothes when i moved in with the boy. The towel was totally forgotten. Few days back, the boy suddenly remembered about the towel and from then on the battle has begun.

Boy says his MIL has bought the towel especially for him. And i told the boy to call up my mom and get his confusion cleared. When my folks had called him to wish on his birthday, he asked my mom about towel, she sweetly took his side and agreed that it was for him.
Well i dint give up that easily. I got the boy another big peach towel as a birthday gift along with all his other gifts. Then i told the boy to forget about the brown towel. But canny boy says that he would lend me his new peach towel and i could use it permanently. aaarrgghhh!!!

Well the brown towel has never been used until now. It is still under the dispute for true ownership. Both the parties are not planning on letting it go.

So the towel tussle continues.......

Cakes, Mousse and Surprises!

So it was the Boy's birthday last Friday!!! N i had planned on few surprises for his day.. But this smart fella made it so difficult to surprise him...

Surprise No 1:
Day: Thursday - Before the Birthday.

I have never tried any chicken dish before. It was always the boy who was assigned to the non-vegetarian section in our kitchen. But this time i wanted to surprise the boy with some chicken curry. So i got chicken from the market in the morning. Around 3'0 clock, i started with the preparations. I had called my mom earlier and had written down her recipe. Cleaning the chicken in itself was very new for me. After some 10 -12 calls to my mom during the entire while, somehow managed to prepare a green chicken curry. Boy loves Jamoons. By six something i was done with the chicken n Jamoons. The boy usually is back home by 7, so wanted to finish everything by then. He called me around 6 and i told him i was preparing tomato curry for the night. Then i cooked some sausages n by 7 somehow was done with the ghee rice too. All the dishes were hidden safely in the chicken.

Even the boy was right on time.

7:00 - Boy enters the house.
7:01 - Done with greeting the boy inside the house.
7:02 - The boy smells around the house n knows something has been cooking all the while.
7:02 - Boy enters the kitchen n i am caught red handed with the chicken curry.
7:03 - A sad n pouty faced girl cribbing that it was supposed to be surprise for dinner n boy spoilt it all by sharp smelly nose.
7:03 - A smiling boy consoling the girl saying it was a very sweet surprise even though found before time.

Surprise 2:
Day Friday - At 12:00 AM

The boy promptly dozed of at 11:00 watching the tv, as he always does. I usually wake him up, but this time i let him sleep peacefully. Around 11:50, I took out the strawberry mousse, which was hidden safely in the fridge. Lit candles around the mousse and turned off the lights. Woke the boy up a little before 12. The boy gets up all dazed and totally lost. Once all awake, the boy is totally amazed that there was strawberry mousse hidden in the fridge all the while. Ahh atleast he got surprised somewhere..

Surprise 3:
Day Friday - Boy's Day

Boy is a big fan of Liverpool Football club. So i had already ordered for a cake with the Liverpool Logo on that. Getting the cake done with that logo was kinda problem, since no one agreeing on doing that sort of fancy cake. I finally had found a shop, and after much of fuss, the baker agreed on it. It was decided earlier that the boy would take his friends out for lunch in the noon and even i would join them. So i planned on taking the cake and surprising him during lunch there. But the boy calls me around eleven in the morning and says that one of his friend has to leave to Delhi immediately and the boy wont be taking them out for lunch today. Now i was totally confused with what to do with the entire cake.

I called up his other friend and told her to convince him on them all out for lunch. Somehow boy agreed and calls me up about the lunch. By then i was already on my way to collect the cake. So i told the boy i was out and would come directly there for lunch. But by 12:30 i got the cake n was also back home. The boy calls up again saying they were leaving now to that place and that he would come and pick me up. Somehow i managed to brush off the boy saying il take more time, so will come on my own. I take the cake and reach there... Boy's eyes is just fixed on the big cover i was carrying. Finally managed at surprising the Birthday Boy...

In the evening i open the door for the boy, I can see a bunch of flowers instead of the boy... My first thought is someone got flowers for the birthday boy. Then the boy says he got the flowers for me for all the surprises i gave him :) ...... Boy also took me out for a lovely open air dinner and drinks under the moonlight.

In short it was very beautiful day and i also discover that it is really very difficult to surprise some people :) ...

so gonna miss u.....

We have been good friends for 7 years now... N i still remember the first time we met..it was my first day in the engineering college and all the girls as usual had formed a big group and were waiting for the introduction ceremony to begin. We got introduced there by a common friend Reems... And that was just the beginning...

Weeks later we started sitting together on the first bench in the class ( Ask how come me n 1st bench... well we thought that lecturers usually concentrate on the last bench . so we can get away with doing anything right under their nose... now that was our illusion.. We got caught for most of the pranks that semester)...

It just took us one freaking evening of tiring Engineering drawing class to become good friends.. I was waiting for reems to get back from the clutches of that monster lecturer and that was when we both sat and started talking about our crushes and everything else.. And from then on we were tagged as good friends. Come the second year of engineering.. we got tagged as the pranksters too...N we also shifted to the last bench( yup we learnt a lesson - Nothing can ever replace the last bench)...

We were team when it came to mischievous deeds.. once we even teamed up to pick a dead frog from the road and drop inside our friends desk... N also we got into the firing line for pranks together...

We shared secrets.. shared laughters.. shared gossips.. shared books.. shared memories.. happiness and gloom...

Once out of engineering days... we still were the same.. we have been each others shoulders to cry on.. the first number and name that comes on mind when we have to share some news... happy or sad..

N on Saturday she left to US for a year on work .... The entire Saturday was spent packing her three years of junk collected here...

Thats us both in the photo trying the karaoke without the mic .. some 10 days ago... Awww

The sales, discounts, shopping, gossip and ladies night out will never be the same without you gal... I am so gonna miss you Raqs :( ......

PS - N when i seemed all sad and depressed.. the boy says he will take me out drinking to a local Bar to overcome my nostalgic feeling... so much for his wicked sense of humor... hmmph..

We live in a virtual world now....

So we( me n the boy) have taken up farming as our main interest... we now own piece of land and have been cultivating it regularly. You can also say.. these are the side effects of recession...

No, the boy has not quit his job, he still goes for work.. but his heart n mind are all always on his farm. Even during his regular days at work, he has sometimes rushed back home to cultivate his obsessive farm.

The boy who finds it difficult to wake up early in the morning to do his regular exercise, has gone to the extent of keeping an alram to wake up ealy and harvest his farm. I say he is totally obsessed with his farm.
Oh did i not tell you this... we even own cattle - cows, pigs, chickens, rabbits, horses, goats, sheep and also brown cows... we have got it all ...

Even when away from our farm... all we think about is our virtual world farm. As i blog this, i realize that, we have turned into one of those couples, who dedicate all their time into virtual farming. Boy we got to do something about this ... hmmmmm...

So tell me guys, are anyone else also being hooked onto virtual farming on FaceBook????
